ASHM/Workforce Development Program

ASHM’s Workforce Development Program (WDP) aims to build the capacity of a skilled workforce through the provision of a range of workforce and management development projects and strategies for workers and organisations in the hepatitis, HIV and sexual health sector across NSW.

The WDP is funded by the AIDS and Infectious Diseases Branch (AIDB) of the NSW Ministry of Health.

The WDP Advisory Committee provides expert advice to the ASHM Workforce Development Program on the development needs of the HIV, sexual health and viral hepatitis workforce in NSW. Representatives from the AIDS and Infectious Disease Branch, the HARP sector, researchers, and peak NGOs bring health promotion, policy and practice expertise to the committee.

What we do

Workforce development activities are aimed at supporting the workforce in pursuing the strategic directions outlined in the NSW HIV/AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infection and Hepatitis C Strategies 2006-2010, and the Implementation Plan for Aboriginal People, 2006-2010.

They include:

  • producing a directory of training and development activities,
  • co-coordinating access to training and development opportunities,
  • providing a range of tailored health promotion programs and activities,
  • assisting learning across and between the sector by encouraging critical reflection and evaluation,
  • developing and maintaining strategic links with key stakeholders.

Consultants

On occasion, WDP engages the services of consultants to develop, deliver and/or evaluate workforce development activities/projects. Expressions of interest are invited from appropriate consultants to be included in a pool of expert consultants WDP can draw from. Please send CV to:
